Benard Bett – Wilderness Kenya Operations Specialist
Benard joins Wilderness with valuable tourism experience gained in customer care and operations management. In his role, Benard is excited to personally contribute towards a bigger purpose, protecting our wilderness.
Benard grew up in Nakuru, Kenya, where he completed his early education before moving to Nairobi.
Customer service is where Benard began his working career, and where he honed his skills in dealing with customer queries. He joined a travel operator to pioneer their customer services before moving on to international sales as an operations consultant. Here he played a key role in ensuring that operations ran smoothly and efficiently.
As Benard’s career progressed, he gained credible experience through various tourism organisations in customer care and operations management.
Benard is passionate about environmental conservation, and photography. An avid photographer, he is always eager to capture the beauty of nature through his lens. He loves planting trees and believes that small actions can make a big difference in protecting our planet. He strongly believes that the natural world is a precious resource that must be cared for and conserved for future generations.
Benard lends his support to community initiatives such as Friends of Mau Watershed, who are actively involved in local reforestation.
Benard’s Wilderness chapter began in November 2022. He is grateful to be part of this incredible team and noted, “I am proud to work for a business that shares my passion for protecting the environment and that I can contribute to making a positive difference”.
Billy Oyaro – Wilderness Kenya Travel Designer
With several years of tourism experience, Billy’s Wilderness journey began in 2023. He is excited to help create unforgettable trips for our guests. Passionate about people and travel, Billy is looking forward to many new adventures with Wilderness.
Billy grew up in the lakeside city of Kisumu, Kenya. He enjoyed an active childhood cycling and swimming, and fishing off the Kisumu Pier on Lake Victoria. After school, he moved to Nakuru to study Tourism and Hospitality Management at Egerton University.
His early career involved volunteering and internships with Ecotourism Kenya, Taita Taveta Wildlife Forum and Sustainable Travel & Tourism Agenda. He then progressed to work as a travel executive for Likizo Experience Africa, before moving to Nairobi and joining The Safari Collection, where he spent six years in sales support and sales consultant roles.
Billy joined the Wilderness family early in 2023. His current focus is to build great relationships with his agents, and to continue growing his product knowledge across our regions. Some of his recent highlights include sandboarding on the Suguta Valley sand dunes and hot air ballooning in the Masai Mara.
He is excited for his new role, noting, “I am grateful for the opportunity I get to positively impact our wild areas. I am eager to learn and look forward to creating adventures and memories of a lifetime for our Wilderness guests”.
Joseph Kuria – Wilderness Kenya Travel Designer
Passionate about wildlife and travel, Joseph brings with him over 20 years of industry experience. He is excited for his new chapter at Wilderness and looks forward to playing a role in bringing guests to experience our iconic wild places.
Joseph grew up in Nakuru, Kenya. After completing school he joined the hospitality and tourism training institution, Kenya Utalii College. This is when his tourism journey began and he has never looked back.
Joseph has travelled extensively across East Africa, and has gained travel experience at several notable safari companies, including working as a Safari Consultant at Maniago Safaris for 12 years.
Joining Wilderness Kenya at the beginning of 2023, Joseph’s role is to assist travel agents and guests create unforgettable journeys to our wild destinations. He feels privileged to help create memories of a lifetime and deliver the ultimate guest experience.
Kiplangat joined the Wilderness family in 2023. He is excited to work for a business where staff are given the opportunity to learn and grow. Kiplangat has embraced his role and is proud to have already contributed positively to his team.
Kiplangat Munai was raised in Nakuru, Kenya.
With several years of customer service experience, Kiplangat has held various roles at companies including British Airways and Air Italy. In 2009 he joined Pollman’s Tours & Safaris, followed by a position at Cheli & Peacock Safaris.
With tourism, conservation and culture close to Kiplangat’s heart, he was thrilled to join Wilderness Kenya in 2023.
In his role, Kiplangat will co-ordinate and drive the flow of information and operations between the camps, travel designers and agents to ensure a seamless guest experience.
Since joining Wilderness and completing his training, Kiplangat had this to say, “I am proud to work for a company which positively impacts our wild areas and uplifts our communities. I look forward to helping to deliver the ultimate guest experience”.
