WILDERNESS SHINES BRIGHT AT INDABA ‘24

Reflecting the vibrant pulse of African travel, and aptly coinciding with May being Africa Month, Wilderness proudly joined its trade colleagues at the esteemed tourism institution of Indaba 2024. The team arrived in balmy Durbs, ditching any winter layers, for an intense three days of meetings from 14-16 May. Hosted at the ICC, our Wilderness team was out in full force, with an impressive 37 team members attending, including Cobus Calitz from Qorokwe, and Martin & Ryan Kays from the Jao Reserve team.

Over the extensive three-day programme, we met with 241 agents, forging valuable relationships and strengthening existing ones. Our PR team also met with various media contacts and added many new travel trade publications to our hit-list.

A standout 2024 highlight was our beautifully designed stand, thanks to Verena Altern’s amazing handiwork. This year, Wilderness, Wayo Africa and the Governors’ Camp Collection all had their own stands, and Wilderness also had a presence on the BTO, NTB and Zim TA stands.

Africa’s Travel Indaba 2024 was not just about meetings; it was a significant economic driver and “a catalyst for collaboration that has the potential to advance fair trade, female empowerment, and sustainability”. This is according to South African Tourism CEO, Nombulelo Guliwe.

We are delighted to have been a part of this successful event, and despite the days ending long past 5pm, everyone left fuelledwith renewed vigour to continue championing conservation tourism and sharing our exceptional journeys to Earth’s most iconic wild destinations.
